In the saturated market of online ‘spicy’ content creators, NessiBbyy is an account that immediately pops up when I start my research. I scroll through her Insta, which has an impressive 27,000+ following. Her flowing dark hair and huge doll eyes stare back at me from the screen.

She’s based in Florida, which to a Brit sounds very cool (as does pretty much anywhere in America). Her style is that perfect mix of cottagecore and gothcore, not to mention that she’s a #gamer.

I think to myself, this is my kinda gal. I hit her up, asking if we could have a casual chat about her experience of online sex work, and she readily agrees.

So you’re twenty one now, when did you start doing your ‘spicy’ work?

I’ve always wanted to do it since I was sixteen. I kind of knew I would get into it at some point. My fiancé wasn’t comfy with it at first because we were literally freshly eighteen but then in 2020, I lost my job due to covid and I ended up just going for it. We ended up loving it and I’ve been working on that/ social media full time ever since.

That’s so cool. How long do you see yourself doing it for?

I can honestly see myself doing this ‘til I have enough money to retire, maybe start my own little business on the side because I love modelling and fashion.

What a dream. What’s an average week as an online sex worker looking like for you?

So Monday through Friday I take photos for 0F everyday and I cam too everyday and chat back and forth with clients through the week. I also post videos on ManyVids sometimes too. My fiancé has the weekends off so I usually spend them with him. Recently though we’ve started to work on the weekends together!

He doesn’t cam with me, but we make 0F videos together. Free time is a little weird for me.  In a way I’m always kind of working whether it’s editing pictures on my phone or taking my acrylics off, but I enjoy doing it so it doesn’t always feel like work!

I try to make time to have a day or two to see my family or go to lunch with a friend, because when you’re hustling, you have to be able to make that time, even if it feels inconvenient, because it’s healthy to spend time with those you love.

It’s easy to neglect seeing friends and family when in the back of your mind you’re thinking how much money you could make in those hours. So good on you for making time for that, it’s important! Sounds like you’re super hard working!

See, it annoys me when people act like sex workers aren’t ambitious, like this shit is a full time job!  Would you categorise the two main forms of online sex work as camming and ‘content creation’ (ie 0F)?

I’d definitely say 0F is the main thing most girls do at the moment.

Yeah it is huge. Are there pros and cons to both camming and 0F for you?

I’d say 0F pros are: you have a  flexible schedule and it’s easy to interact and make custom content.  The cons are that it’s inconsistent with subscription amounts and there’s lots of rules.

The camming pros: it’s fun because you can talk to real people real time, and you’re guaranteed money if you stay on all day. The cons are that you get a super dead season sometimes and longer hours of work.

0F as a platform allows you to make yourself more personalised, plus I post a lot more on there. Whereas with camming people surf through different profiles looking at the girls that are live at that moment.

I guess 0F is maybe better for people who are more spontaneous as it’s more flexible, whereas with camming if you really want to make money, it’s good to come on at the same time(s) every week. Which do you prefer?

Definitely 0F. I made the most money on 0F in the first six months of 2021, when my fiancé was helping me out, so I figure the more we do together, the easier it is to gain on that platform. I hope one day in the future I can just do 0F with him full time, whilst travelling the world.

Do you make the most money on 0F in general?

For sure.

I’m intrigued about how intimate the relationships on 0F gets with the clients- do you feel closer to them than your camming ones?

I think it’s really even between the both of them! I’ve just realised my 0F people seem to stay and be fans of me for longer periods of time than cam.

Why do you think that is?

I think it’s because 0F as a platform allows you to make yourself more personalised, plus I post a lot more on there. Whereas with camming people surf through different profiles looking at the girls that are live at that moment.

I do still  have some people on camming that stay with me for months and months, but I have a lot more of that on 0F.

Watching camgirls and using 0F rather than watching mainstream porn is like supporting a small business in my opinion, you pay a bit more but the content is more custom to what the viewer likes!

Interesting! I ask because the whole idea of the virtual girlfriend has become even more popular since the rise of 0F, as the platform is so personal. Would you say you’ve experienced guys like that, who have developed an almost romantic feeling towards you?

Oh yeah for sure! It definitely gets weird for me at that point because I have a fiancé and I make that known but I have to keep it professional.

I can imagine it must sometimes feel weird for you. How do you respond to the guys when they get like that?

I just am very straightforward with them about my rules/limits while performing. I have no problem blocking someone if they want to be disrespectful or push my boundaries.

Do you feel like cam sites and 0f are healthier alternatives to mainstream porn?

Yes!!! Watching camgirls and using 0F rather than watching mainstream porn is like supporting a small business in my opinion, you pay a bit more but the content is more custom to what the viewer likes!

Haha nice. Support small businesses! My friend who does online sex work said that she genuinely thinks she’s helped some guys that were more antisocial/ nervous around girls get way more confident.

But onto the negatives, can you think of any stand-out times that were really annoying and made you feel like you didn’t want to do it anymore?

Yes. Oh my god this one guy I talked to back & forth for like two-three weeks as an online girlfriend type thing. He was paying me in Amazon gifts or so I thought.

Nothing ever came and he blocked me, it was $1000’s worth of stuff he owed me. I’ll never accept gifts as payment again!

Jesus I’m so sorry. What an absolute dick!

Yup.

It’s such a good community and we all support each other…To us it’s work so we like to talk about general stuff like our stats. It’s the same as a group of guys sitting around talking about their business together, it’s just nice to have that!

I read somewhere somebody saying they felt 0F is more empowering than camming as it puts the power in the hands of the performers, do you feel that?

I honestly feel like it’s completely the same to me. 0F just comes out on top because it feels more personal, and takes way less out of my day than camming.

Would you say there’s a good community of online sex workers- have you met any other  content creators online and are now mates?

Yes, OMG I’ve met so many people through Instagram that are now my close friends that do 0F mostly!

I love that! How has having those friends in the same business affected your work?

It makes me feel a lot less alone, there’s a lot of girls from my high school that I was close with that I’ve seen now do it as well and I’m so happy for them.

It’s such a good community and we all support each other. In our modest society, what we do is obviously very taboo so it’s nice to be able to talk about it.

To us it’s work so we like to talk about general stuff like our stats. It’s the same as a group of guys sitting around talking about their business together, it’s just nice to have that!

I think it’s really important to have that. What are your tips for people wanting to grow their online presence as sex workers?

For growing I’d suggest making new accounts for your ‘work’ profiles on social media, (twt, ig, tiktok) and advertise subliminally as much as you can!

With Sensuali, we’re trying to create an openly sex-positive space for sex workers. Is there anything you would want to see that you feel isn’t already out there, or any features you would add to existing platforms to make online SW easier, safer or more empowering?

I would love to see something that helps bring fellow sex workers together instead of just worker to client chat- like a client list and a separate friends list would be awesome! I feel like sometimes it’s so hard to find friends and meet new girls on the actual platforms themselves.

Yes! I very much agree. Thank you so much for taking the time out of your schedule for this, it’s been great to chat.

No worries! I can’t wait to see it! Talk soon!

Porn gets a reputation for being degrading towards women and for good reason. Luckily, there’s filmmakers out there who are working hard to change that. This blog takes a look into the careers of three female pioneers in the adult entertainment industry whose focus on the female perspective has ushered in a much needed revamp of this male-dominated industry.
