‘Striving to find the bliss point between provocative and educational storytelling, Bethany uses art and creativity to encourage positive social change; aiming to empower through freedom of expression wherever she goes.’
BxSassy aka Bethany Burgoyne is an all round creative sexual icon to say the least. She writes, performs, photographs, models and runs the award nominated podcast, The Sassy Show. She also runs sensual workshops and dabbles in domination. We had a digital chit chat with Bethany to talk about her journey as a content creator and all-round sex guru.
Can you describe what you do in 1 sentence?
I’m a sex positive creative professional focusing on intimacy, kink, and sexual pleasure as liberation, expression and empowerment.
As an award nominated podcaster (check out The Sassy Show), for the past five years I’ve been publishing interviews and photographing kinksters and performers across the globe, championing the LGBTQ+ community and breaking away from the taboo of professional narratives embracing personal conversations.
As a host and performer, I bring my honesty to the mic and stage, carving a space for conversations around sexuality, intimacy, and authenticity, aiming to encourage more women and non-binary femmes to be themselves and tap into their sassy side.
What was your journey into this world?
Burlesque was my gateway and a desire to improve my own relationship to my body was my incentive for exploring the world of sensuality, kink and intimacy.
I found that through dance and performance many people, including myself, are able to step into their sassy side and, from there, a space is often created to play and be knowledgeable about relationships to pleasure.
My introduction to seductive stripping helped me fall in love with my body hair (which had been my hang-up for most of my teenage and adult life) and, in parallel, I started to uncover my dominant and submissive side (impact play and all!).
Do you have a mission?
My mission has always been to eradicate the shame we are brought up feeling in regards to our bodies and our sexuality.
As a pansexual queer hairy person, I fought against my body and desires for years because I feared judgment. But the more I can encourage others to liberate their sensual sides and engage in their sexuality by being fully themself, the better the world will be.
Whether that’s through my podcast, my onstage performances, my workshops, or my sensual photography – I’m all about eradicating taboos and encouraging sassy confidence.
How would you describe your approach to what you do in a nutshell?
I cherish care and kindness, void of judgment and shame, which is the approach I take to all areas of my life.
For one-on-one sessions there’s a lot of preliminary conversations that happen first so that we can get to know each other, feel comfortable and identity what exactly is it you are wanting to come away with (be that an experience, a new level of confidence, a deeper understand of your sensual pleasure/kinks or a beautiful portfolio of images you get to gush over for life).
On stage and in front of the camera, I’m a lot more sassy – I’m playful, dominant, and all about the tease. You want me? Let’s see if you can have me…
Who is your typical client and how can you help them?
Typically I work with people who are wanting to get over an insecurity or explore a fantasy they’ve been dreaming about. People of all consenting ages, genders, and sexualities have come my way to work together and I love seeing them grow in confidence. Honestly, the
transformation from one session (be that a sensual workshop or a photoshoot) is mind blowing and sometimes one time is enough.
I put this down to the activation of stepping into what they want – once we jump, the net always appear – and realising that everything is possible. Be that the confidence to communicate, to strip off, to dress up, to step into our sensuality – it’s always within. Sometimes we just need a bit of help being articulating or putting into practise what we want.
Tell us something that you wish more people knew about you.
That I’m incredibly bubbly! The world of sex and how we see kink and BDSM can often seem a bit scary or provocative. But when you meet me, you’ll realise I’m a very friendly, smiley human here for creating positive, memorable experiences on a day to day basis.
How would you describe your photography/content creation style?
My photography style is seductive, colourful, full of sensual textures, dance and characterful play.
Whether I’m dressing up my masculinity or helping someone experience their fetish dreams, I love making folks feel cared for (I’m a soft dom and a loving sub!). We’re here to connect and it is of the utmost importance that the experiences are positive for everyone involved. Before, during and after.
What’s your favourite form of content to create and why?
I love creating seductive dance videos and adventurous photoshoots – be that in front of or behind the camera. My favourite memory was posing naked in a forest holding provocative poses while climbing trees (getting sassy in nature – what fun!). And I LOVE taking to the stage, singing my cabaret style songs while stripping and educating on kink – it always ends with the whole audience getting up and dancing with me which brings a big smile to my face every time.
Who are your artist inspirations?
I am forever crushing on Madonna for the way she’s brought kink and BDSM into the mainstream from an intergenerational perspective – her 1992 SEX book is a powerful portrayal of sexuality. And I hold Kali Sudhra’s work in high esteem as a performer and porn director,
alongside Poppy Sanchez whose seductive playful erotic content are my fantasies brought to life.
Tell us all about The Sassy Show.
Where to start! In 2018, I founded The Sassy Show, a multimedia sex and body-positive digital platform focusing on creatives and aiming to transform the portrayal of women and gender in the media. My Sassy Show journey so far has led me to incredible places around the world,
where I have experienced gender-diverse realities and inspiring communities across cultures.
It runs as a podcast, a blog, and a studio where I’ve been honoured to photograph and interview individuals from all walks of life doing AWESOME sassy work in their own careers. I would love it to become a talent agency and TV show one day in the near future – watch this space honeys!
How has your relationship with what you do evolved over time?
My confidence and love for what I do has been my greatest evolution; in parallel to seeing the confidence and joy that radiates from the individuals I’ve had the joy to work with.
Communicating what I do and how I do it hasn’t always been easy or clear, it took time and patience. But I’m proud to say I am even happier in my life by pursuing this path and sticking at it in the face of adversity. Every chapter has taught me something new about myself and strengthened my relationship to my individuality, my sensuality and my mission to help bring out the sassy side in everyone who wants to engage with it.
What are your hopes for the future in the sensual world?
I’m working on my first book which has been a couple of years in the making – a guide to becoming more confident – so I’m looking forward to publishing. I hope to continue working with awesome humans photographing and filming their sassyness so more people can appreciate
their magic.
I’m always on the hunt to be invited to in-person events as a performer and workshop facilitator. And a deep desire of mine is to be in a loving relationship of my own – I would ADORE to have a partner who aligns with my sassyness and join me on and off camera.
So any sassy lovebugs out there – I’m waiting for a message from you 🙂
Any final thoughts?
Remember that you never have to change anything about yourself to be beautiful – you are an amazing person already, confidence is all you need to shine!
