Could you introduce yourself and what you do?
Hi there! I’m Lisa Opel—author, advocate, and unapologetic pleasure enthusiast. My mission? To help women reclaim their sensuality and embrace the beauty of sexual empowerment. You might have caught my TEDx talk, Rediscovering sex after a dry spell, where I got real about my journey from burnout to rediscovering joy through sensuality.
Or perhaps you’ve listened to my podcast, where I dive deep into pleasure advocacy, and all things womanhood. Oh, and I also penned GIVE IT TO ME!, a collection of steamy, realistic erotica that’s as much about empowerment as it is about desire. Whether I’m writing, speaking, or guiding, I’m here to help people celebrate their sexuality and feel confident in exploring their fantasies.
What are the specific services you provide on Sensuali?
On Sensuali, I offer a space where curiosity meets empowerment. From personal consultations to group workshops, I help individuals and couples navigate the often murky waters of desire and intimacy.
My focus is on breaking down the shame around pleasure and providing practical, fun tools to help people explore their sexual identities with confidence. Whether it’s through discussions on sexual wellness, guided intimacy exercises, or simply helping someone rediscover their spark, my services are designed to make the sensual journey feel exciting, fulfilling, and entirely your own. Plus, you can always tune in to my erotic audiobooks or join a live discussion to dive deeper into the realms of realistic, empowering erotica.
What was your journey into this world?
Well, let’s just say it wasn’t exactly a straight road!
Back in 2019, my personal life fell apart—my marriage was on the rocks, and I felt like a shell of my former self. I was “functioning” but no longer “living.”
After failed attempts to fix myself through doctors, advice, and even Google, I had a lightbulb moment when I rediscovered my love for books—particularly erotic ones.
But there was nothing out there that reflected my experience as a mother with postpartum changes and a complex relationship with her body.
I decided to write the stories I was craving, which led me to become the Mary Poppins of raw, relatable erotic literature.
Writing GIVE IT TO ME! helped me reconnect with my own desires and ultimately transformed me from “just a mom” back into a fully realized woman.
Do you have a mission?
Absolutely! My mission is to break down the walls of shame and guilt surrounding women’s pleasure and sexuality. I want women—especially those navigating changes in their sexuality or motherhood—to feel empowered to explore their desires and be unapologetic about their sexual needs.
Pleasure isn’t just an indulgence, it’s a principle, and I’m here to help people reclaim that part of themselves.
Whether through storytelling, coaching, or speaking engagements, my goal is to create spaces where women can talk openly about their desires, explore their fantasies, and, most importantly, feel good about themselves in the process.
How would you describe your approach to what you do in a nutshell?
In a nutshell? Bold, honest, and always with a dash of humor. I’m all about creating safe spaces for real, unfiltered conversations about pleasure and intimacy.
My approach blends empathy with no-nonsense advice—I’m not afraid to get deep and personal, but I’m also here to make you laugh and enjoy the process. I believe pleasure should be fun, and that exploring it shouldn’t feel like some heavy, complicated task.
I’m your guide through the thrilling, often messy, but always rewarding adventure of embracing your sensuality.
What is your favourite thing about your work and what are the biggest challenges?
My absolute favorite part of the work? When women—especially mothers—reclaim their right to pleasure and start exploring their desires without shame. Seeing that transformation, from someone feeling lost or disconnected to becoming confident in their sexuality, is beyond rewarding.
The biggest challenge? Society’s deep-rooted stigmas around pleasure, especially for women. We’re taught to feel guilty for wanting more, for exploring our sexual selves, and dismantling that is tough work. There’s still so much shame around female desire and sexuality, and it can be a challenge to break through those barriers. But, oh boy, is it worth it when you see those walls come down!
Who is your typical client?
I attract a diverse group of people, but my typical clients/fans are women—often mothers—who are feeling disconnected from their bodies or sensuality. They come to me because I get it—I’ve been there. They seek out my work because I don’t sugarcoat things or play into unrealistic ideals about what sensuality “should” look like. Whether someone is navigating the complexities of sexuality or looking to reignite their intimacy after kids, they know I’ll meet them with compassion, honesty, and a bit of cheeky humor to help them along the way.
What should more people know about your work?
People should know that my work isn’t just about sex—it’s about connection, communication, and rediscovering yourself. Yes, I write erotica and talk about pleasure, but I also focus on the emotional and psychological aspects of intimacy.
My work is about helping people, particularly women, feel whole and empowered in every aspect of their lives—whether that’s through talking about orgasms or dealing with the pressures of motherhood.
And I wish more people understood that pleasure isn’t selfish or trivial; it’s vital to living a fulfilled, joyful life.
How has your relationship with what you do evolved over time?
At first, I saw my work as a way to reclaim my own lost pleasure. It was deeply personal. But as I’ve evolved, I’ve realized just how many people—especially women—are struggling with the same issues. Over time, my role has shifted from being just an author or a speaker to becoming an advocate for those who feel unheard or unseen in the realms of sexuality.
Now, I feel a greater responsibility to push the conversation forward, to create a bigger, louder space for women to explore their desires. It’s no longer just my personal journey; it’s about empowering others on theirs.
What are your hopes for the future in the sensual world?
I hope for a future where women—mothers, bisexual women, all women—feel free to explore their desires without fear or guilt. Where pleasure is seen as essential, not frivolous, and where we’re able to talk about sexuality as openly as we discuss the weather.
I want a world where sexual education isn’t shrouded in shame and where realistic depictions of women’s sensuality are front and center in media and literature. In short? I’m hoping for a world that embraces pleasure, not just tolerates it.
Anything final thoughts?
Just this: don’t wait for permission to explore your pleasure. Whether you’re a mother, a businesswoman, or still figuring out who you are—pleasure belongs to you.
Be curious, be brave, and give yourself the freedom to feel everything. And hey, if you ever need a little extra inspiration, you know where to find me—whether that’s through my books, my podcast, or a cheeky chat on Sensuali.
