In the world of shibari where most riggers are male, Petite Pretzel as a small-framed woman has had an unconventional experience of being a shibari top. Nevertheless, or maybe, as a result of this, she is now a pioneer in the community. This is her unique perspective as a female shibari rigger.

We caught up with rope switch Petite Pretzel, a performer and teacher at London's top rope bondage institution, Anatomie Studio. We discussed all things Shibari and how the practice has immensely changed her life.
About me
Petite Pretzel is a rope switch from New York City. She has been presenting shibari since 2019 at Anatomie Studio London, as well as at other UK venues (Oxford Rope Bight, Tangled Festival Derby, Edinburgh Rope Showcase), and abroad in the USA (Temple NYC), Greece (Athens Shibari), Germany (Eurix), and Sweden (Stockholm Pride). She has performed live for Pinky Promise, Riposte Queer Rave, Fox Badge and Rabbithole Club. Her commercial rigging includes music video credits (Charli XCX, Christine + the Queens), art gallery installation (Elizabeth Xi Bauer gallery), fashion photography and full-length film. She lives in Bethnal Green with her cat, who loves ropes just as much as she does.
